The Full Story
The Student Legal Advice Manual

Mission
Hi, I’m Ellie, and I’m currently training to be a barrister. The idea for SLAM (Student Legal Advice Manual) was born out of my own experience as an undergraduate Law student, struggling to understand tenancy agreements, as well as using my own knowledge from working in HE. My goal is to make legal advice more approachable and helpful for students navigating everyday issues.
Vision
As finances in the Higher Education sector continue to tighten, students are facing more challenges, with fewer resources available to support their well-being and provide essential advice. That’s where SLAM comes in—offering accessible, clear, and free legal guidance on everything from moving into your first uni accommodation, to misconduct appeals, and understanding working hours for international students.

About me
Hi, I’m Ellie! I’m a Law graduate with experience in compliance, with a focus on Competition Law, Whistleblowing, and Governance. Right now, I’m studying for the Bar while gaining hands-on experience in governance and advisory roles.

I’ve worked across different sectors, from universities to retail, always driven by a passion for fairness, accountability, and access to justice. I also volunteer with the Trans Legal Clinic, helping to support those in need.

When I’m not buried in work or studying, you’ll probably find me reading, swimming, or enjoying a good debate. Let’s connect!
